We had two first-team players in senior action for their countries on Friday evening, while a third was involved at under-21 level.
Scroll down to find out how our international stars fared:
Aaron Ramsey played the full 90 minutes of Wales' World Cup qualifying draw against the Republic of Ireland. Our No 8 lined up in attacking midfield alongside Gareth Bale but was unable to help his country break down a resolute Irish defence. Neil Taylor was also sent off for a reckless challenge on Seamus Coleman.
Nacho Monreal was an unused substitute as Spain cruised past Israel with a 4-1 win in World Cup qualifying. David Silva and Vitolo were on target in the first half before Diego Costa added a third after the restart. Lior Refaelov pulled one back late on, but it was too little, too late as Isco's 88th-minute strike saw Spain romp home in Gijon.
Rob Holding was an unused substitute in England Under-21s’ 1-0 friendly defeat against Germany. Hoffenheim’s Nadiem Amiri scored with a long-range strike after just 23 minutes to secure the win for the hosts in Wiesbaden.
