Jorginho

Jorginho Headshot

Cultured midfielder Jorginho made an instant impact after arriving in the January 2023 transfer window. On only his second start for the club, his stoppage-time long-range shot deflected in off Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to help us to a famous 4-2 win.

Born in Brazil, Jorginho – full name Jorge Luiz Frello Filho – started his career at Hellas Verona but really made his name during four and a half years at Napoli, particularly as a deep-lying playmaker after the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as manager in 2015. Having won the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa in 2014, Jorginho moved to the Premier League in 2018, joining up with Sarri again at Chelsea, and he helped the club to Europa League, Champions League, European Super Cup and World Club Cup success over the following three years.

The central midfielder has had a successful career at international level too, and having opted to play for his adopted country Italy, he was a key figure as the Azzurri won the European Championships at Wembley in 2021, playing the full 120 minutes before their penalty shootout victory over England.
