Gifted defender Ben underlined his versatility last season when, having spent his first campaign with the Gunners at centre back, he moved seamlessly into the right-back role and featured in every single Premier League match. He contributed at both ends of the pitch with his excellent positioning and ability to pick out a pass, notably notching five assists and two goals in the Premier League, his first strikes for the club. Fast yet calm on the ball, Ben won the Arsenal Player of the Month award for November.

He joined the club in the summer of 2021 from Brighton & Hove Albion, having come through the Seagulls’ academy and made his debut at the age of 18 before spending time on loan at Newport County in League Two, Peterborough United in League One and Leeds United, where he scooped their Young Player of the Year award en route to the Championship title in 2019/20. He returned to Brighton the following season, winning their Player of the Year award and making his England debut against Austria on June 2, 2021. He was later named in the Euro 2020 squad, although did not feature, and again in the 2022 World Cup squad.
