Powerful Ghana international Thomas enjoyed another hugely impressive season, and was one of our standout performers in 2022/23 – especially prior to the World Cup break. Strong in the tackle, a tireless worker and blessed with great awareness, Thomas also contributed three goals in the Premier League, one of them a memorable strike in the 3-1 home win over Tottenham Hotspur that won the Arsenal Goal of the Month award for October.

Thomas joined the Gunners from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in October 2020 and, having arrived with a big reputation, made an instant impression by picking up the Man of the Match award in a 1-0 win at Manchester United. No stranger to success, the Ghanaian lifted the Europa League and European Super Cup with Atletico, and before that he also played in the 2016 Champions League final, which Real Madrid won on penalties after a tense 1-1 draw.

Named Ghana’s Player of the Year in both 2018 and 2019, he is vice-captain of the national side, twice featuring at the Africa Cup of Nations and, having been hugely influential during qualification for the 2022 World Cup, appearing in every one of their group matches in Qatar.
