Academy graduate Eddie made an invaluable contribution to Arsenal’s title challenge last season, particularly in the weeks after the World Cup when Gabriel Jesus was injured. He scored in successive matches after the resumption of the Premier League, in victories over West Ham and Brighton, and his strike against the Hammers won the Arsenal.com Goal of the Month award for December. But the undoubted highlight was his brace – and last minute-winner – in the 3-2 win over Manchester United at Emirates Stadium in January.

His fine form followed a strong finish to the 2021/22 campaign, when he netted five goals in seven games to reach double figures for the season. A centre forward with great movement and energy, he joined Arsenal from Chelsea’s youth system aged 14 and scored 39 goals in 39 under-18 appearances, plus 27 for the under-23s. He scored a late brace on his second senior appearance to knock Norwich City out of the Carabao Cup in 2017, before later helping Leeds United to the Championship title during a loan spell in 2019/20.

In October 2020 he broke the goalscoring record for England’s Under-21s, finishing with 16 goals from 17 appearances at that age group. He is also eligible for Ghana via his parentage.
