Karl Hein

Karl Hein Headshot

Talented young goalkeeper Karl completed his journey to the first team last season by making his senior debut against Brighton & Hove Albion at Emirates Stadium in the Carabao Cup.

Long marked out as a bright prospect, Karl has been a regular for Estonia since making his senior international debut as far back as September 2020 at the age of 18. He played the full 90 minutes at home to Georgia in the UEFA Nations League, having already progressed through the under-17, 19 and 21 age groups for his country. The 6ft 4in keeper, who cuts an imposing figure between the posts but also possesses great technique, joined us from his hometown club Nomme United, where he made his debut at the age of 16.

He signed scholarship forms with Arsenal in 2018 and turned pro the following year. The Estonian Young Player of the Year in 2021 featured in the first-team squad in 2021/22 before joining Championship side Reading on loan for the second half of the season. He made five league appearances for the Royals, helping them avoid relegation. He also featured five times for our Academy sides last term, in Premier League 2, the EFL Trophy and FA Youth Cup. He was in action during our mid-season friendly fixtures in Dubai in December 2022, and made four saves in the penalty shootout win over Lyon.
