Attacking midfielder Fabio began the season on a high by scoring the decisive penalty to secure our shootout victory over Manchester City at Wembley in the Community Shield.
The Portuguese playmaker also netted in our 5-0 home win over Sheffield United, but was then laid low with a groin injury, eventually returning to action in March.
Despite that setback, the Portugal Under-23 international has shown plenty of promise since joining in June 2022, shortly after helping Porto win the Portuguese league and cup double.
The left-footed creative midfielder, who combines a deadly long-range shot with elusive movement and clever passing, racked up 14 assists – including two hat-tricks – and six goals in 27 Primeira Liga appearances in his final season.
A Porto player from the age of eight, he won the UEFA Youth League in 2019 and made his first-team debut a year later. He also helped the Portugal Under-21 squad to the final of the Under-21 European Championships in 2021, winning the Player of the Tournament award.
He is back at Porto on loan for 2024/25.
