Wilshere and U18s pay a Christmas visit to the Hub

On December 18, Jack Wilshere and our scholars visited the Community Hub to help out with donating food to the Islington food bank.

During the visit, the group spoke with members from PLPFA Health, PLPFA Football Plus, PLPFA Double Club and Arsenal Community Coach Development Programme.

Participants were excited to meet the players and Arsenal staff – with everyone who attended in good spirits and getting a lot out of the sessions.

It follows the recent visit to the Hub from a number of men’s first team players including Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Jurrien Timber – as well as visits by some of the men’s and women’s first team players to hospitals across the borough spreading festive cheer in the community.

The scholars also needed no reminding of the importance of community at the club, which remains at the heart of everything we do off the pitch.

Former first-team star and U18 manager Jack Wilshere knows first-hand the importance of our one-club mentality, sharing that this work is vital to the development of younger players – providing communities with positive role models.

Arsenal in the Community will also be working with Islington Council and Go Forward Youth to provide Christmas Day celebrations for Care Experienced Young People from Islington.

AITC have worked with Islington Leaving Care Service since 2011 to provide opportunities for care-experienced young people, particularly relating to education and employment.
