The Greenville Gooners came to life in July 2014 after branch manager Nate Phillips decided he was tired of watching dodgy Internet streams by himself at home at 7 o'clock in the morning. He decided it would be far preferable to watch Arsenal matches with other fans.
Phillips said that last year was the first time that any bar or restaurant in the area truly recognized the need to cater to Premier League fans. Fortunately, he found a place for the Greenville Gooners to gather - a cantina not far from Greenville's famed Liberty Bridge. Since then, they have moved to their current home at Upstate Craft Beer Co..
The group's first official meeting was to watch the Arsenal friendly against the New York Red Bulls. Five supporters turned out at Gringos while another four were in the stands in New Jersey.
