Sustainability strategy

As a new season starts, it is an exciting time at Arsenal as we begin a new push towards becoming a more sustainable football club. We are proud of the progress we made last year, but there is so much more to do.

To make sure sustainability is integrated completely into the club, we have spent the summer working on a Sustainability Strategy that will embed sustainability into the heart and soul of Arsenal. We want this strategy to guide us and be focused in the right direction.

By using our commitment to the United Nations Framework and its targets for Carbon Net Zero as a starting point, we are committing to short and medium-term targets that will push us. But we aren’t solely about “net zero”. We want to take a view that relates to us, the Arsenal family as a whole. As fans, you know we aren’t any ordinary football club. We want to blaze a trail, be innovative and brave in our outlook – just like we always have been.

After the success of our under-16s tour to Scotland, where the players chose to plant trees, eat vegetarian and vegan food and travel by train instead of plane, we hope we can take the lessons from this tour and use them across the club.

We are proud of the matchday programme-inspired Arsenal Forest, which has been so impactful to both the environment and the area in Kenya where we have helped to create jobs and change the lives of those involved.

Concerted efforts continue to reduce our plastic waste and seek new ways to reduce our consumption of other materials.

We have more electric vehicle chargers being installed across our sites and there will be other initiatives that you will start to see and read about.

Lessons were learned from our participation in Southampton’s Greener Game, and we will be working with our friends at other football clubs and across all sports to make sure we are doing our utmost to raise the profile of sustainability causes.

Sustainability isn’t just about Arsenal, it is about the whole Arsenal family. You, the fans are crucial to us becoming better.
