Our fantastic fans have once again shown themselves to be a generous and caring bunch. You have answered our call for donations of pre-loved football boots and trainers to coincide with Earth Day, and we’ve been overwhelmed with the sheer numbers being placed in the collection bins.
Our Youth Academy teams – women’s and men’s – also all helped out by donating footwear to our cause and we have been delighted to receive several large boxes, full to the top with vital sports footwear. These boots will be distributed via our Community team to several local schools, who will put them to good use, helping children participate in football and other school sports sessions.
Our friends at adidas have also been helping out by donating footballs to accompany all the boots and trainers that have been collected.
Also, if you follow us closely you will know that we are big cycling fans, so we were very excited to partner with Islington Council and bring Dr Bike to help supporters and local residents with bike repairs on the evening of the Southampton game. Dr Bike returned to Emirates Stadium on Saturday, May 6 to help local bike riders with general maintenance and repairs to ensure their machines were in tip-top condition.
From pumping up tyres to adjusting breaks and gears, this free service further promotes cycling as a great way to reduce our travel emissions while getting some excellent exercise.
