Zech Medley has joined League One side Gillingham on loan for the 2020/21 season.
The 20 year-old defender joined us as a scholar from Chelsea in November 2016, with his progression earning him a professional contract shortly after in August 2017.
A regular in our under-23s in recent seasons, Zech has also broken into the first-team squad during this time. His fine form at the start of the 2018/19 season earned him his first-team debut in November 2018. The youngster impressed against Vorskla Poltava and it was followed by another Europa League outing against Qarabag at Emirates Stadium. During the 2018/19 season, Zech also came on as a late substitute in our FA Cup third round victory at Blackpool.
A tall, commanding and predominantly central defender, Zech made 15 appearances in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy during the 2019/20 season and once again made the first-team matchday squad, being an unused substitute in the Europa League tie at Standard Liege.
Everyone at the club wishes Zech the best of luck during his season-long loan at Gillingham and look forward to seeing his continued development.
The loan is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
