There are so many people who are realising the importance of making small changes to their lives in an effort to reduce individual environmental impact – and here’s another great example.
Alexei Rojas – a first-year scholar in the Academy – has become an environmental champion for the Academy, and he told Arsenal.com: “When I was back at Hale End, I remember speaking to our facilities managers and we were able to make quite a few changes; like no longer using single-use plastic and switching to compostable packaging. It’s becoming more of a spoken topic around the training ground.”
And Alexei has also told us about a small change he’s made to his day at the training ground that will hopefully inspire others.
“I cycle to training every day, to and from home,” says our goalkeeper. “It’s a quick journey as I live in St Albans so it takes about 15 minutes.
“I do it because it’s one less car journey, I am fully self-dependent so I can arrive early and leave late without having to have my parents take me. And most importantly it’s one of the ways I help the environment. A sustainable form of travel that is also great for your health.”
What a fantastic example to set the other young players at the football club – well done Alexei!
