Player of the month

Xhaka scoops successive Player of the Month awards

For the second consecutive month, Granit Xhaka has been voted by our supporters as our men's Player of the Month for October.

The Swiss midfielder enjoyed another standout run of games, which was recognised by Gooners around the world as he picked up 42 per cent of the votes to follow up his September success.

Thomas Partey - winner of our Goal of the Month award for his stunning strike against Spurs - came second with 35 per cent, while Bukayo Saka was third with 13 per cent.

Granit was a star performer throughout a hectic October, playing in all nine of our games and scoring three times along the way, including the clinching goal in the north London derby against Tottenham, as well as netting in back-to-back games against PSV Eindhoven and Southampton.

He was also a hugely creative force playing in his new advanced role, as he created 12 chances for his teammates and made 350 successful paces, but also never shied away from his defensive work by winning 17 duels.

Speaking after scooping September's award, he said: "For me, it's always special to get something like this. But if I'm honest I don't wait for this moment because in the end we are winning together and losing together. But to get it makes you happy because it means people can see the work that I do.

"It's extra special because everyone knows what happened three years ago, so you can see the performances from us when we get the support."
