For many newcomers to the Premier League, the festive schedule can come as something of a shock - but not for Lucas Torreira.
Our Uruguayan midfielder is preparing for his second winter in England, but has long been an admirer of the Christmas fixtures.
"There were so many things that I enjoyed [about English football growing up] but particularly the festive game over the Christmas and New Year period=," Torreira said.
"It doesn't really happen in other countries and I can remember those festive times at home, getting up early. Even though they're played in the afternoon here, they were screened in the morning in Uruguay because of the time difference.
"I remember some great games, lots of goals. For the football coverage where I lived, there was an Argentine commentator who had a very unique way of calling goals. He had a particular chant for every player from each team. That's something I really remember!"
