Tyreece John-Jules scores for England Under-18s

Tyreece John-Jules

We had six players in action during Thursday’s round of international fixtures. Scroll down to find out how they got on:

Tyreece John-Jules scored a penalty in England Under-18s’ 2-2 draw with Netherlands. Our teenage striker converted from 12 yards to open the scoring and looked to be heading for their first win of their mini tournament in Spain when Rochdale midfielder Daniel Adshead scored, but Marouan Azarkan and Joshua Zirkee struck to salvage a late draw for the Oranje.

Vontae Daley-Campbell and Flo Balogun also featured, while goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo came off the bench six minutes into the game after starting stopper Luca Ashby-Hammond had been sent off for handling outside his area.

Reiss Nelson was also in England youth action on Thursday, playing the final half hour of the under-21s’ 2-1 win over Italy. The Hale End graduate, currently on loan at Hoffenheim, replaced Leicester City’s Demarai Gray after 63 minutes to help Aidy Boothroyd’s see out an impressive victory over next summer’s European Under-21 Championship hosts.

Sokratis helped Greece keep a clean sheet in their Uefa Nations League win over Finland in Athens. Partnering Kostas Manolas at the back, our defender played the full 90 minutes, with Albin Granlund’s own goal securing all three points for the hosts.

Bernd Leno was an unused substitute in Germany’s 3-0 win over Russia. Former Gunner Serge Gnabry claimed a goal and an assist, with Leroy Sane and Niklas Sule also on target, as Germany look to build momentum ahead of their crucial Uefa Nations League tie with the Netherlands on Monday.

We could have a number of players in action on Friday, too.
