Trossard: "A perfect win for us"

Leandro Trossard feels that our 2-0 success against Wolves was just the tonic after a difficult week for his team.

Strikes from the Belgian as well as skipper Martin Odegaard saw us move back to the top of the Premier League table and help banish memories of the defeats to Aston Villa and Bayern Munich beforehand.

And the routine nature of the victory pleased Leo as we start to rebuild some momentum heading into our clash against Chelsea on Tuesday night.

“We wanted to show the response today, and I think we've done that,” Leo said. “Another clean sheet, two great goals - it's a perfect win for us.

“It's a massive boost. We wanted to win this game. There's another game coming up very soon, so now we need to recover, get ready again, and then show us again on Tuesday.”

While it wasn’t the outcome he expected, Leo’s goal was his 14th in all competitions this term, and his ninth in the Premier League - a record haul for him.

He puts that down to two factors - the quality of his teammates around him on the pitch, and the enjoyment he’s experiencing playing in a team scoring goals, winning games and battling for the Premier League title.

Reflecting on his strike, he laughed: “It wasn’t intended, I just tried to get it on target because I had to handle it so quickly. I saw the defender coming so I just tried to get it on target and then the ball went in so nicely. It was a great goal for me and it helped us get up in front and get into the game.

“I came into a squad with so much quality, so I would say it's also maybe easier for me to play with such players as they can find you in tight spaces. I think the link-up has been brilliant since I've been here, and I’ve enjoyed my time here a lot. So I think that all in one word, is great.

“This is what you play for as a football player. You want to play for prizes and get involved in title races. We need to focus on ourselves now. We can only do our own thing and that's to win all of our games and I think everyone is ready to do that.”
