Leandro Trossard scored his first Gunners goal on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to take all three points against a determined Brentford side.
The Bees came into this game having not lost in the league since October, and they hadn’t conceded in any of their previous three outings.
Our recent signing Trossard broke the deadlock less than five minutes after coming on for Gabriel Martinelli though, before Brentford hit back to grab a point.
After the game we the Belgian forward spoke to Arsenal Media, here’s what he said…
On the result…
I think overall we played well. In the first half they had some chances but in the second half we came more into the game, and obviously we scored that goal and then it’s a tough one to take when they scored the equaliser.
On his goal…
Yes, I saw B on the ball, I knew I had to make it at the back post. It was a perfect cross and luckily I scored it. It was perfect for us to get the lead, and a perfect moment I think. But like I said, it’s nice to score, but it’s nicer if you can get the win of course.
On whether it was a missed opportunity…
It’s always a missed opportunity I think if you were leading, especially we knew what they wanted to do. We know their game plan, that they were strong on set pieces and that’s how we conceded the goal. Overall we have to lift our heads up and there is a game on Wednesday, and luckily it’s quite soon and we can go at it again.
On Wednesday’s game…
Yeah of course its always nice if you don’t have a good result, or it could be a better result, if you have a draw or loss, it’s always nice to play straight away in a couple of days and that’s what’s going to happen, and I think we will be ready for it.
