Sister club focus: Hitchin Belles FC

Arsenal Women

We work closely with 18 grassroots football clubs as part of our FA Women’s Super League Sister Club programme.

Our programme is one of the biggest in the country and the aim of our support is to get more girls playing football. Over the course of the season we will be focusing on a number of the clubs and sharing information on how girls can start playing football.

The latest club that we will be focusing on are Hitchin Belles FC…

Founded in 1999 by Roger Spicer, the Belles have grown to become one of the largest all-female football clubs in the country, and now run 11 youth teams.

With 180 players across all age groups, the numbers continue to grow and all are welcome to join.

The club have earned a reputation for having a fair and friendly atmosphere and were awarded the FA Charter Standard in 2010, in recognition of high standards.

Currently looking for new players, Hitchin Belles train from 6pm to 8pm on Fridays at Hitchin Boys School, as well as on Wednesday and Thursdays.

Contact Gemma Smith, the club’s chairwoman for more details on 07515444896.
