Ten of our players have received call-ups to international youth team squads, including seven for England with Folarin Balogun potentially featuring for the under-21s today.
The striker has impressed during his loan spell at Reims, having scored five times in eight Ligue 1 appearances so far, and will look to add to his 11 under-21 caps in friendlies against Italy and Germany.
This afternoon will see Lee Carsley’s side face the Azzurri in Pescara, before heading back home to take on Germany at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane on Tuesday.
Two more players currently out on loan have been selected for England’s under-20s, with Charlie Patino and Brooke Norton-Cuffy picked to participate in the Costa Calida Supercup tournament, however the latter has since withdrawn through injury.
Patino came on 10 minutes from time in England’s opening game which saw them defeat Chile 3-0 in Pinatar, and will hope for further action against Morocco on Saturday and Australia on Tuesday.
Also out in Spain are the Young Lions’ under-18s, which includes Lino Souza and Amario Cozier-Duberry who both started England’s 1-0 win against the Netherlands on Wednesday.
Souza played the full 90 minutes, while Cozier-Duberry came off in the 59th minute, and the pair will be aiming to be included against the Faroe Islands on Friday and Belgium on Monday.
Having made his record-breaking first-team debut against Brentford last weekend, Ethan Nwaneri could take to the field again for England’s under-17 side after he was called up for their Syrenka Cup squad alongside fellow Gunner Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Managed by another of our former academy products in Ryan Garry, the under-17s will face the Czech Republic on Friday before having two further matches during the tournament, which takes in Poland.
Also called up for their countries are James Sweet, who will look to help Wales’ under-21s against Austria in a friendly in Vienna on Tuesday, while Henry Jeffcott has been included for Northern Ireland’s under-21 friendly double-header against Scotland on Thursday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, Teodor Minchev has also been picked for Bulgaria’s UEFA U17 Championship qualifiers against Turkey, Switzerland and San Marino next month.
