Saliba delighted with Old Trafford clean sheet

After a solid defensive effort helped us record a 1-0 win at Manchester United, William Saliba was thrilled that we managed to go to Old Trafford and pick up yet another clean sheet.

Leandro Trossard’s 20th-minute strike gave us the lead, but from that point onwards our defence were superb, limiting United to just two shots on target throughout the game on their own patch.

The Frenchman was delighted with that as it ensured the Premier League title race will go down to the final day of the season, and put us back on top of the table with one game still to play.

“It wasn't easy today because it's a good team and it's really hard to come and take the three points here,” he said. “We suffered a lot. We didn't play well as always, but when we are not at our best, we have to stay strong. We don't want to lose or draw, and today we did very well at the end and we took the three points.

“It was another strong performance defensively from the team. I think it's not only the defence, it's everyone, the midfield and the attackers. We defend all together and we have to be happy to keep a clean sheet because it's not every time they don't score here. We are so happy and we need to keep going, keep going, and keep going.

“I'm proud because I played well today, and because of my teammates as well. They helped me every time, so it's easy to perform in this team. From there, I want to keep going, I want to keep performing and keep progressing, and I will do my best.”

Now we have to wait until midweek to see if Tottenham Hotspur can do us a favour and get a result against Manchester City to put the destiny of the championship in our own hands. William has everything crossed that will be the case, and ensure the final day against Everton is one to remember.

“I hope it will be a good week for us, but we have to pray,” he said. “We have to believe, and we have to win against Everton. We have to watch as well on Tuesday what's going to happen in Tottenham, so let's see.”
