'This is a really good step in my career'

Jessica Samuelsson became the latest addition to Pedro Martinez Losa's ranks when she joined the club on Friday afternoon.

The 25-year-old Sweden international arrives in north London with 24 caps to her name and claimed a silver medal in the 2016 Olympic Games.

Jessica spoke to Arsenal.com following her signing - and this is what she said:

on what made her choose to come to Arsenal…

I was here to visit and I liked the environment and I liked the coach. So I think this is going to develop me as a player and that’s why.

on her playing style…

I’m a player that really plays with my heart. I run a lot and I think one of my biggest strengths is defensively, one versus one. I’m an energetic player.

on why she came to England…

As I say, I needed to take a new step in my career. I think this is a good step in my career to develop even more, so that’s why.

on whether she spoke to Swedish team-mates…

I talked a lot with Kosovare Asllani and Hedvig Lindahl and they talked a lot of good things about the league, like that it’s tough and there are good games and everything like that.

on pre-season…

It’s a little bit different from home but that’s just because I’m not used to this type of play. But it’s fun to try something new.

on her new team-mates…

The whole group have been really welcoming and as well the staff and all the people around the club. I feel like I’m in safe hands.

on what her message to the Arsenal fans is…

I can’t wait to play my first game, it’s going to be so much fun. I can’t wait to meet everyone and be sharing together the first three points.
