Odegaard: A matter of time until we win trophies

After we smashed numerous club records in 2023/24 to push Manchester City all the way for the Premier League title, Martin Odegaard believes that silverware is on the horizon.

The skipper put in another excellent display during our 2-1 success against Everton, which took us to 89 points for the campaign, one behind our best ever Premier League return. We also hit new highs for goals scored and wins per game during the campaign, showing our championship credentials as we pushed City right to the wire.

And Martin feels all those stats and facts highlight that we’re a serious contender for the biggest prizes in the game, and feels that we keep the consistency as high as we have this term and take another step forward, he will soon be lifting trophies at Emirates Stadium.

Speaking post-match, he said: “I’m glad we got the win, to finish with a win at home was the only thing we wanted to do today. We did that but unfortunately we didn’t have the luck needed and were so close.

“We’re making big steps all the time. If you compare it to last season, we were a lot better and more mature with a new record of wins in the league, so we’re doing a lot of good things and it’s just a matter of time until we win some big trophies. We’re just going to keep pushing every day to do that.

“We’re allowed to feel a little bit disappointed at the moment, we came so close. But if you look at the season, it’s been unbelievable. I think the steps we are taking all the way feels so much stronger than last year.”

Before we headed into the summer break, Martin was swift to thank everyone who had played a part in our success this season, as we recorded consecutive second-place finishes and ended the campaign with a six-game winning streak.

“I’m proud of the boys and I’m proud of the team, the club, the fans and everyone,” he continued.

‘The support we’ve had throughout the whole season away and at home - everywhere it’s unbelievable. We love them so much and hopefully next season we can come back and give them a good trophy to celebrate.”
