The competition for places in Arsenal's midfield is an exciting prospect for Jack Wilshere.
The England international started Tuesday's Champions League win over Napoli on the bench and Arsene Wenger later admitted that he erred on the side of caution with Wilshere's fitness.
Wilshere has no problem with that and he knows that the battle for a starting place will be even more intense when Arsenal's injured players return.
"I have played a lot of games recently, so I was just happy to get on and help at the end," explained Wilshere. "It was just a formation thing. I am feeling fine, Tomas Rosicky is coming back from injury and he needed a game.
"It is exciting. We still have Santi Cazorla to come back, so we are going to have a great squad.
"If we can keep everyone fit, we are going to be real contenders in all four competitions. We have not really had this over the last few years, all of this competition for places. We are all excited and we just have to keep it up now."
Serious competition for places is a hallmark of a strong squad and Wilshere will thrive on the challenge.
"When I broke into the team, it was similar," he said. "There was Fabregas, Diaby, Song, players like that. It brings the best out of me and it will bring the best out of the other players as well."
