Arsene Wenger says he will take a wide range of advice over Jack Wilshere’s fitness as he eases him back into first-team action.
The England international missed four games while he nursed an ankle problem but returned in Saturday’s 3-1 victory against Norwich City.
Wenger admits starting Wilshere was something of a gamble, but insists he will not take any unnecessary risks over his long-term health.
“I rushed Jack back a bit, he was not completely ready,” the manager told Arsenal Player. “How careful must I be? To listen well to the medical advice and that is what I have to do.
“Use him when everything is alright and listen to him as well, how he feels. He has been out for six weeks, so maybe it was a bit too rushed what I did.
“He has practised with me since he was 16, so I know quite well how his body responds to things.”
