Bacary Sagna says Arsenal’s strong defensive record gives the entire team confidence going forward.
The Gunners kept another clean sheet on Saturday as they beat Fulham 2-0 at Emirates Stadium, and have now only conceded once in their last nine home games.
Sagna is pleased with that record, and believes it provides a solid foundation for the side's more offensive players to attack from.
"We know we are always going to have one or two chances in a game because we have quality players who can make a difference"
“By not conceding goals we give everyone in the team confidence,” he told Arsenal Player. “We know we are always going to have one or two chances in a game because we have quality players who can make a difference.
“We want to stay strong at the back and get the ball back as soon as we lose it. We still need to improve in that zone, but everyone is doing quite well and defending from the top to the back.
“We need to [keep] doing this well before going forward and as long as we stay strong defensively we can always score.”
Sagna does not pay any attention to those observers who dismiss Arsenal’s credentials and says all the matters is what happens on the pitch.
“Our target is to make people talk until the end of the season and celebrate then - but it is a long way until the title,” he said.
“We will let them talk, we want to make the difference on the pitch and show we have a good quality team and be consistent.”
