Aaron Ramsey hailed Lukas Podolski’s "lethal left foot" after the German forward scored a brace in Arsenal's 3-1 win against Fulham on Saturday.

The Welshman impressed again in midfield as the Gunners notched their first win of the Premier League campaign.

But it was Podolski who took the plaudits and Ramsey was full of praise for his teammate’s clinical finishing.

"He has a lethal left foot and he proved that again today," said Ramsey. "The power and accuracy he has with his shooting is second to none. He really helped us today by getting two goals but we are just pleased to get the win."

Podolski was starting his first game of the season and felt he stake his claim for a full-time role.

"You are always unhappy when you do not play but today I got my chance and I thought I had a good game," he said.

"We have great support home and away and we are glad to get the three points which is what we needed today.

"It was a great performance away from home in a derby. It was not easy but we showed our qualities against Fenerbache and again today and now we look forward to the game on Tuesday."
