Mesut Ozil says the biggest reason for his decision to sign for Arsenal is the trust Arsene Wenger has in him.
The Germany star joined the Gunners for a club record fee on transfer deadline day.
But the 24-year-old revealed his price tag was not the most important factor in his move to north London.
"The most important thing is the manager trusts me and that I can get trust from him," said Ozil. "This was the most crucial point for me.
"I would have come here for free, that wouldn't have been a problem. When I spoke to Arsene Wenger on the phone he was full of respect and as a player I need that.
"I will have wonderful years here, hopefully I will win many trophies here and stay healthy. This is what I look forward to."
