Loan Watch: Afobe scores for Wednesday

Every season a number of Arsenal players go out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience. With the 2013/14 campaign now underway, 12 Gunners are currently away from the Club.

Benik Afobe scored his first Sheffield Wednesday goal as Stuart Gray's side extended their unbeaten run to 11 games with a victory at Reading. Afobe helped create the game's opening goal, winning the penalty from which Chris Maguire gave the visitors an early lead. Afobe made sure of the win after the break, tapping home from close range. Damian Martinez was an unused substitute at Madejski Stadium.

Chuks Aneke completed 90 minutes of action but could not help Crewe to victory at Valley Parade. Uche Ikpeazu's brace had put the Railwaymen in control but the hosts drew themselves level with two goals in a minute, courtesy of James Hanson and Gary Jones. Mathias Pogba again gave Crewe the lead but Jones salvaged a point for Bradford in the closing stages.

Joel Campbell started and played 71 minutes as a supreme second-half display gave Olympiacos victory at Veria. Alejandro Dominguez opened the scoring on the hour before Hernan Perez, Giannis Maniatis and Michael Olatian's brace added gloss to the scoreline. Olympiacos are now 17 points clear at the top of the Greek Super League with 10 games to play.

Johan Djourou played the entirety of Hamburg's home defeat at the hands of Hertha BSC. Adrian Ramos was the hosts' tormenter-in-chief, creating the opening goal for Sami Allagui before adding a first-half brace. The loss was Hamburg's third in succession.

Wellington Silva was introduced in the dying stages as Real Murcia secured their first victory of 2014 against high-flying Deportivo. Dorca scored the game's only goal shortly before half-time.

Ignasi Miquel, Hector Bellerin and Ju Young Park played no part in this draw at King Power Stadium. Fernando Forestieri and Sean Murray had given Watford a two-goal lead but Matty James and Danny Drinkwater's last-minute curler salvaged a point for the league leaders.

Francis Coquelin was an unused substitute in Freiburg's Bundesliga draw against Hoffenheim. Winger Jonathan Schmid broke the deadlock midway through the second half but Anthony Modeste levelled things up with five minutes to play.

Daniel Boateng watched from the bench as Hibernian were beaten by Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers at Easter Road. Sam Stanton and Michael Nelson cancelled out goals from Kevin Moon and Dougie Hill, but Grant Anderson made sure of victory with a 63rd-minute header.
