Kerr on win, starting quickly and White

Shelley Kerr
Shelley Kerr

Shelley kerr gave her thoughts after her side beat Glasgow City 3-0 at the Hive on Saturday.

Read a transcript of what she had to say below:

on the performance…
We controlled the game from start to finish. We could have scored more goals, however we are happy that we go into the away leg at 3-0 and we haven't conceded. I don't think our goalkeeper had a save to make.

on whether a three-goal advantage will be enough…
Football is a funny game, anything can happen. But you saw the performance today, we totally dominated and we looked very comfortable in our 3-0 win. We still have to prepare, the tie isn't over yet, it's only one leg so we still have to prepare very professionally for the away leg and I'm sure Glasgow City will make it difficult for us.

on going into the second leg with confidence…
There were some great performances today and it was a great team performance. We probably were a little bit unfortunate not to get another couple of goals at least.

on making a fast start…
I think we are a team that starts really well. I think there's been a few games this season where we've scored really quickly and when you do that then it gives you a bit of confidence that you can go and play. So it helps getting an early goal to settle you.

on Kelly Smith's return…
I thought she was absolutely first class. She does things that no other player does and was a little bit unlucky not to get a goal. She has such great vision, she's trained hard for a while and she's done exceptionally well to get herself in the shape that she's in so it was brilliant getting her on the pitch again. I think her last game was in the Champions League against Torres in March so it was fitting for her to come on in the Champions League again. It's been a long wait for us and she's just such an exceptional talent so we're all really delighted for her as a Club that she's back on that pitch.

on whether she will start on Wednesday…
It's too early to tell. She's had a week's contact training and I think she's done remarkably well. We're trying to give her as many minutes as possible - we had a couple of closed door games this week which she played a part in but we just have to wait and see how everyone recovers. We've got another couple of training sessions before the game so we'll wait and see what happens but she's certainly a fantastic talent to have coming off the bench.

on Smith's return giving the team a lift…
I said that this week. The intensity of the training has been incredible and that's what a player like Kelly does because she raises the standards with her presence. She's lifted the girls this week by being back in training. I think everyone forgets we've had her missing for the whole of this season and she's such a massive player to have missing so it's great to have her back.
