Kerr - It's crucial that we start well

Shelley Kerr is aware that starting the campaign well could be the key to Women's Super League success this season.

Arsenal Ladies begin their defence of the league title against Liverpool at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Ladies went through the whole of 2012 unbeaten in the WSL and Kerr wants her team to carry that form into 2013.

"We've got arguably some of the best players in Europe at this Club. They are very experienced and very professional in the jobs that they do"

"Everyone wants to knock you off your perch so it's important that we get off to a good start and that we try and continue the success that we've had at the Club by playing the way we can play, providing the support and the viewers with a product that's attractive," she told Arsenal Player, speaking before the start of the season. "I think that's what we've been good at in recent years.

"It will be really tough. The hardest thing in football I think is to sustain success. I know that the girls are up for another good season. They need to remain focus, disciplined and organised. We'll be there or thereabouts this season, I'm pretty sure of that.

"We've got arguably some of the best players in Europe at this Club. They are very experienced and very professional in the jobs that they do.

"It will be really important [to utilise youth and experience]. You always hear coaches and everyone saying that you can't beat experience but you need a right balance and you need to bring youths in at the right time. There certainly is a right balance in the team with youth and experience and that will be important for the future."
