Cazorla - We’ll match Bayern in midfield

Santi Cazorla

Santi Cazorla says Arsenal have enough quality in midfield to cause major problems for Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

The German side are 15 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and are one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season.

The talented trio of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Javi Martinez and Toni Kroos are expected to start in midfield at Emirates Stadium, but Cazorla is confident the Gunners can match them.

"We have Jack, who is a spectacular player. Then there is Mikel, then Abou, who is a player who can bring great things to the team"

“We’ve been drawn against a team which is very difficult to play, Bayern Munich, and they are one of the favourites for me, together with Barcelona,” the Spanish schemer said. “But we will try to play at a high level against Bayern, who have great players in their team.

“[But] we have Jack, who is a spectacular player. Then there is Mikel, then Abou, who is a player who can bring great things to the team. Then Podolski, who is of an international level.

“It’s clear that at Arsenal there are always great players playing. And that helps me to do better as well. So as each day passes we understand each other better and better, and day by day we have a better understanding on and off the pitch.”

Cazorla is looking forward to locking horns with Spain team-mate Martinez on Tuesday night, and hopes to get the better of his friend.

“I have a good relationship with him,” he said. “I know he has been very happy there in Germany and it will be nice to face a friend from the national team.

“It will be a very nice encounter in the Champions League for both of us. And let’s hope that the better team wins, and that in this case it is us.”
