Mikel Arteta says Everton were hard to handle during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Emirates Stadium.

The Toffees controlled possession for long periods of the game and forced Wojciech Szczesny into a couple of smart saves before Gerard Deulofeu equalised in the 84th minute.

Arteta believes the draw was a fair result and is happy to see his old club doing well.

"I think they are doing tremendously well with a young manager who has bought a new style"

"In terms of chances I think we had the better chances," said Arteta. "But the draw is the fair result for both teams.

"I think in the second half we were on top of the game but credit to Everton, they have been the best side we have played this season in the Premier League.

"They [Everton] have been playing really well and they have always trying to produce a good mix of players with quality, intensity and speed.

"They are hard to deal with and they made it really hard for us.

"I'm really happy for them," added Arteta, "I think they are doing tremendously well with a young manager who has bought a new style. I always want the best for them but obviously when I play against them I want to win."
