March 31 marked 16 years since Arsenal legend David ‘Rocky’ Rocastle tragically passed away.
We held an event on Emirates Stadium on the anniversary of Rocky’s passing. The evening saw an advanced screening of BT Sport Films’ Rocky & Wrighty: From Brockley to the Big Time, the deeply moving story of the journey Rocky and Ian Wright made from South London’s Honor Oak estate to Highbury.
The film features in-depth interviews with names familiar with the Arsenal family including George Graham, David Dein, Pat Rice, Perry Groves, Michael Thomas, Tony Adams and Paul Davis, plus Rocky’s wife Janet and children Melissa, Ryan and Monique.
The film examines two of our most revered players, exploring both players’ different journeys from South London’s Honor Oak estate to the top flight of Highbury.
Charting the players’ enduring friendship from childhood, the film follows their entry into professional football and their journey from league trophies and Young Player of the Year accolades to eventual heartbreak with Rocky's illness and tragic passing in 2001.
