Giroud - My memories of scorpion kick

Olivier Giroud just loves scoring against Crystal Palace.

The France striker has found the net in each of his previous three Premier League games at Selhurst Park, but he will forever be remembered for his scorpion kick in this season’s reverse fixture at Emirates Stadium.

“It was a nice memory, a nice goal but I’m not sure I’m going to score the same goal again,” Giroud told Arsenal Player.

“Even if I score an easy goal, though, they all count the same. If I can help the team to win the game, it will be massive for us to get back to the where we need to be. I will try my best.”

As good as Giroud’s goal was, he was pipped to the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award by Andy Carroll’s bicycle kick against Monday’s opposition.

“I’ve scored some goals like that [Carroll’s volley] and it was a nice one, but you won’t see a scorpion kick like mine very soon,” he said. “That’s why I think [the scorpion kick was better]. It surprised everyone and that’s why it was so beautiful.”
