'Jodie showed what she is capable of'

Pedro Martinez Losa

When Jodie Taylor signed for Arsenal Ladies in March, nobody would have predicted her only making her debut in the closing days of October.

However, that is exactly what happened, with the England international stepping off the bench to bag a brace in a 2-0 win over Doncaster Belles.

After battling back from a spate of injuries, Pedro Martinez Losa couldn’t have been happier for Taylor.

“I am very pleased for her because she showed in just a few minutes what she is capable of: easy movements and that instinct to find the ball,” Losa said. “So we are very pleased that she is fully recovered, it’s been a lot of work from her, there’s been a lot of work and effort from the club also to put her in form.

“But we are very proud that we can make that connection with the player and the way we operate with players. So that’s the way Arsenal is and also, Jodie is really happy.

“We worked hard, we deserved the result and I was really happy, especially for Jodie that she scored two goals in her first game with us and we are looking positive for the future," he added.

“I’m happy to get the result, not conceding a goal is very positive and we finished at home with our fans in a positive way.”
