'Southgate’s experience is invaluable'

By Connor Armstrong

Rob Holding believes Gareth Southgate has plenty to offer England after taking over as manager on an interim basis.

The centre back has been part of Southgate’s under-21 squads and is backing his former coach to rise to the challenge of leading the Three Lions.

“I think it’s something he could easily do and take in his stride, not a problem,” Holding told Arsenal Player. “He’s been really good with me, he brought me into the England set-up.

“I wish him all the best for the few games that he takes charge of and who knows in the future if he takes it full-time.

“He talks a lot to me, Calum and Kortney Hause, who are the three young centre-halves that are there.

“He’ll just pull us aside and just say what he thinks, what he thinks is easier to do and where we should be. His experience is invaluable.”
