Arsenal in the Community and Samuel Rhodes School teamed up to take a group of pupils to the ‘Football is More’ special adventure camps in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
The pupils, aged from 14 to 16 years old, all have special educational needs and took part in an Arsenal Double Club programme during the academic year.
The group travelled to Switzerland for inclusion activities, team-building exercises and a football tournament across a number of venues with world-class facilities. They attended alongside representative groups from Benfica, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Werder Bremen, Chelsea, Rapid Vienna and SCR Altach as well as some groups from local schools. The team acted as ambassadors for their school and also built friendships with people from across Europe.
Arsenal in the Community’s disability officer, Luke Howard, said “This was an incredible opportunity for the young people we work with and will leave a lasting impact on them. Having the opportunity to take young people to represent their club internationally is a privilege and the group did everyone proud.
"Events like this will allow us to share experiences, best practice and learn from each other, tackling stigmas and creating opportunities for everyone no matter what their needs are or where they come from.”
