I thought ‘I’d best not hit this over!’'

It was a day to remember for Rob Holding after he scored his first goal for the club agianst Chivas. Find out what he said to the media:

on a good pre-season…
Hopefully, it keeps building up and building up. After the last game, we keep winning and winning, so we can hit the ground running against Liverpool.

on his goal…
I was in the right place at the right time. Calum has done brilliantly to square it across. As it is coming, I had a bit of time to think and I thought ‘I best not hit this over!’ I managed to get my head over it and smash it home. I’m happy with that.

on the competition…
It got a bit nasty towards the end. A couple of fans ran on the pitch, so that puts everyone on edge a bit. We just had to hold our shape and be a bit defensive, but we earned that [win] with our first-half performance. It was good.

on the experience…
The MLS All-Star game was a bit of show, but this felt like a proper game which was competitive and what we needed.

on the fans in LA…
It is unbelievable, but you can see all the fans, it was the same in San Jose as it is in LA. I can’t wait to get to London and show what I can do to the fans.
