‘It’s a good chance to visit the past'

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal Legends’ charity match against Milan Glorie will be “a good opportunity to visit the past”.

Former Gunners favourites are set to face the likes of Paolo Maldini, Filippo Inzaghi and Cafu at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, September 3, with net proceeds donated to the Arsenal Foundation.

Wenger will take charge of the Arsenal side and the manager is relishing the prospect of working with the likes of Thierry Henry, Robert Pires and Dennis Bergkamp again.

“I met some people from Milan who told me they are already preparing for that game,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“I think we sold already 40,000 tickets so it will be a great game because usually these former champions have a lot of pride, it will be a very good opportunity to visit the past as well and see how everybody is doing.

“For our fans it will be a great experience to see our former players again. As always we will have the problem to pick the squad and to pick the starting XI.

"They do not play 60 games per year anymore, they play only one or two so they will not be happy if they are not selected, but it will be a great day I am sure.”

Tickets priced from £20 for adults and £10 for concessions are available here. All net proceeds will be donated to The Arsenal Foundation
