Cruyff Court Championships 2016

Cruyff Court Championships 2016

Arsenal in the Community hosted The Cruyff Foundation 6 vs 6 championship final at the ‘Dennis Bergkamp Cruyff Court’ at Elthorne Park earlier this month.

Teams from Arsenal in the Community competed against community sides from Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool FC and Everton.

The tournament is a legacy of Dutch legend Johann Cruyff, who built ‘Cruyff Courts’ around the world to provide safe places for children to play football.

The Elthorne Park court was opened with the help of Islington Council and a £75,000 donation from Dennis Bergkamp in 2008. It houses a number of Arsenal in the Community projects every week.

Bergkamp is pleased to see the pitch to see the difference the Elthorne Park pitch has made:“It’s fantastic to see all the kids playing on my Cruyff Court in London. I support the Cruyff Foundation and as an ambassador help them to continue with the legacy of Johan Cruyff.”
