‘I’m so proud of our little rocket’

By Lloyd Webb

Josephine Henning says she is "so proud of the little rocket" Dan Carter after Arsenal Ladies beat Chelsea to win the Women's FA Cup for the 14th time.

The England international scored the only goal of the game - a wonderful curling shot - in the first half to give the Gunners a deserved victory in Saturday's final at Wembley Stadium.

Carter was also voted player of the match, but Henning was delighted with how the whole team performed.

“I’m so proud of the little rocket, that’s what I call her,” she told Arsenal Player. “She’s done an amazing job and so have all of the girls. You can’t just pick one standout player, it’s all of them.

“There’s so many players around the team, it’s not as though we’ve won it by ourselves. That’s why we deserved to win, so it felt great.

“We did well in the first half. When we talk about football you talk about controlling the game, and then in the second half everything got a bit more exciting.

You have to defend well. We played with five at the back so that helped and I’m very proud of the girls.”
