Alex Iwobi says Danny Welbeck has helped him settle into the first team.
The 19-year-old has established himself in Arsene Wenger’s squad following his debut for the senior side against Sheffield Wednesday last October, and has since scored twice.
"He came through at a young age so he is always helping me or having banter with me and making me feel comfortable"
Both goals came in his first two Premier League starts, against Everton and Watford, and Iwobi says Welbeck’s previous experience at Manchester United has helped him along the way.
“Danny Welbeck has taken me under his wing,” he said. “He’s been helping me a lot because he is a young English player that came through at Manchester United, so he knows what it’s like.
“He came through at a young age so he is always helping me or having banter with me and making me feel comfortable. I think it is key [to feel comfortable] and they have all welcomed me.
Iwobi is surrounded by established internationals in the Arsenal first team, and says Mikel Arteta has inspired him the most due to his professionalism.
“Every time he is fit, I would say Mikel Arteta is definitely up there,” he said. “The way he is so professional and is always trying to gee people on. He is definitely inspirational.”
