Jodie Taylor says Pedro Martinez Losa played a big part in her decision to join Arsenal Ladies.

The striker moved to north London from Portland Thorns on transfer deadline day, having spent the past three years in Sweden, Australia and the United States.

Taylor is looking forward to playing for Losa, having known him for some time.

"I’ve seen a couple of games and training sessions, but there’s been an international break as well, so most players have been gone. I’m just enjoying getting to know my new surroundings"

“He was a big part in my signing,” she told Arsenal.com. “I knew Pedro a little bit from my time in the United States.

“He was involved at Western New York Flash when I was playing in America and I think the style and understanding of how the game is there will help Pedro bring some of the positives to Arsenal.

“I feel like I’ve got a decent relationship with him because of the last few years, so he was a big part of my decision, along with the stature of the club and the players as well."

Taylor was Arsenal Ladies' sixth signing of a busy off-season, and the England international has been impressed with Losa’s recruitment drive.

“Obviously I’ve seen a lot of players at international level,” she said. “I’m familiar with the England girls like Fara Williams, Alex Scott, Jordan Nobbs and Casey Stoney, but also the Dutch girls. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Danielle van de Donk, too.

“Kelly Smith is an absolute legend of English football too, arguably the best of all time. I’m just really excited to start training with these players, especially Fara Williams. I haven’t been involved too much with the injury, but I can’t wait to get started properly.

“I’ve seen a couple of games and training sessions, but there’s been an international break as well, so most players have been gone. I’m just enjoying getting to know my new surroundings."
