Earlier this month, Arsenal Soccer Schools from Dubai, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia took part in the Arsenal Middle East Cup 2016.
The tournament saw children from schools across the region compete at the home of Arsenal Soccer Schools Dubai, the spectacular Emirates 7he Sevens facility. Played across two days, 30 teams competed to win the four trophies up for grabs.
Arsenal Oman were victorious in both the U-12s and U-14s categories. A visiting Bahrain Soccer School claimed top spot in the U-10s category, narrowly defeating Arsenal Kuwait, and Arsenal Dubai won the U-8s Cup.
Each player collected a participation medal and the winning teams lifted trophies for their age category. Head Coach at Arsenal Soccer Schools Dubai and former Arsenal midfielder, Ian Selley, oversees all coaching at the 7evens facility including the running of the annual Middle East Cup.
Speaking about the tournament, Ian said: “It is always fantastic to see so many teams from Arsenal Soccer Schools around the Middle East come together for this tournament. The standards improve year on year and make for a very exciting and skilful competition. We look forward to hosting the tournament again next year.”
Kieron Lewis, Head of Coaching for Arsenal Soccer Schools, added: “We teach all our youngsters to play the Arsenal way and to see so many of them together at the Middle East Cup was fantastic. It was clear to see that all the teams had embraced the Arsenal philosophy and each game displayed a lot of skill and plenty of goals.”
