Arsene Wenger is confident that Arsenal can get the better of title “favourites” Leicester City when the teams meet at Emirates Stadium next weekend.
The Gunners are back on track in the Premier League after goals from Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - just 88 seconds apart - saw off Bournemouth on Sunday.
Wenger’s team have climbed above Manchester City and they will try to cut Leicester’s lead to two points on Valentine’s Day.
"Gabriel has done well. He has performed well and overall I think the confidence comes with games, which is interesting"
“[Beating Bournemouth] is very good for the future as we now have a very big game at home against Leicester who are now the favourites for the Premier League,” Wenger told Arsenal Player. “[A win] can maybe prepare you in a better condition for the next game.
“We have a week to prepare for that and I have to think about it. Leicester is a strong side but we are also a strong side. At home with our fans and support, we can do it.”
Wenger praised Gabriel and Oxlade-Chamberlain after the win at Bournemouth after the Brazilian defender contributed to a clean sheet and the England international scored his first Premier League goal away from the Emirates.
“Oxlade-Chamberlain has the power, the technique and he is able to score goals but he can create also,” said Wenger. “Usually he is unlucky [with his shooting] but maybe that will convince him that he should take more chances.
