Everyone at Arsenal Football Club was saddened to hear of the death of John Roberts, aged 69.
A Wales international, John worked as a railway fireman before taking up football and joined Arsenal from Northampton Town in April 1969. He spent more than three years in north London, helping the club to win a league and FA Cup double in 1971.
John featured 18 times in this historic 1970/71 campaign and made 81 appearances in total before leaving to join Birmingham City in 1972.
John also represented Wrexham and Hull City before retiring at the start of the 1980s.
