Wenger on the January transfer window

Arsene Wenger says he is working hard to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.

The Arsenal manager is short of options in midfield following injuries to Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta.

"I'll be busy in January, that's for sure"

"I'll be busy, that's for sure," Wenger said. "I am already busy and I said already one month ago we are a bit short to deal with all the competitions we face, especially in midfield. We will be busy, yes."

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny, while Wenger admitted that Mathieu Debuchy could leave the Gunners.

"Unfortunately we cannot announce anything at the moment about this player [Elneny] because nothing has been concluded," said Wenger.

"It's not impossible [that Debuchy will leave]. I'm happy if he stays but we'll see."
