Cech - We have to play with a cool head

Petr Cech says Arsenal must play with “cool heads” when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby.

The Gunners have already beaten their rivals this season, when Mathieu Flamini’s brace helped them to a memorable victory at White Hart Lane.

Sunday’s game at Emirates Stadium will be Cech’s first north London derby, but knows exactly what is required to secure a positive result.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he told Arsenal Player. “It is a big game with a special atmosphere and it is obviously a north London derby with two teams who want to be top of the league.

“In our case we want to make sure we win the game and stay at the top. In their case they need the points to enter into the top four.

“You feel how much the game means to the supporters and it means a lot to the players, too. You want to win every game and if it is a special match, you want to make an extra bonus for your fans - hopefully we will carry on the tradition and win.

“You need to play with your heart and with a cool head. In these types of games you need to make sure you play in the right way and you still need to keep your game going as this is how you win - because one free-kick, one mistake in terms of cards and it can change the game.”
