Mikel Arteta says Alexis’ determination to strive for perfection makes him a constant danger to opposing teams.

The Chile international scored his first goals of the season when netting a superb hat-trick in Arsenal’s 5-2 victory at Leicester City on Saturday.

Arteta was delighted with the performance and believes Alexis’ second goal, a brave header, characterises his will to win.

"Alexis is the kind of guy who can score three and still want to do even more! But that’s the best thing about him"

“It was fantastic to see Alexis get off the mark at the weekend,” the captain told the official matchday programme. “I think he’s been very unlucky.

“He could have had six or seven goals by now but has been denied by the frame of the goal and some really good saves. But he keeps going.

“That frustration doesn’t stop him and I think it was very important for him. He needed that personally and it also helped to give the team three points.

“Alexis is the kind of guy who can score three and still want to do even more! But that’s the best thing about him.

“Look at the way he went for the header. It was a good pass from Mesut but he had to be really brave.

“When the keeper is charging out at you and you attack the ball like that, it tells you everything about him.”
